So, we have gotten a couple of comments about how Sterling makes all the posts, and I never do. Because of that, Sterling asked me to write a post by my very own self, one, because the following post is about my company party, and two because Sterling is sick of hearing about how its usually the woman that writes. So here it goes... this last weekend, we were pretty busy. Besides Rob and Carolyn's wedding, ARS had been planning a camp-out up at camp Lomia in Logan canyon. After the wedding, we headed up to the camp and got all set-up and just as we got done some of my co-workers and their families got back from driving the "rigs". We will have pictures at the end to demonstrate, but these "rigs" are European military vehicles that my boss Jud has bought over the last couple of months. He has used them as "marketing" vehicles, but in all reality they are just some fun toys he uses to go off-roading. So, me and Sterling and a bunch of other people all hopped in the Volvo, the Green Unimog and the Blue Unimog, and we went riding up the dirt road towards Mount Logan. What a ride! It was getting dark and a little chilly as we were riding in the Volvo which is all open, but low and behold the Volvo has heaters at your feet, so we stayed quite nice and toasty. When we got quite aways, we found a tree that was down and Jud decided he wanted to see if he could go over it. The Volvo was first and it went over it fine. When the Unimogs caught up, they had even an easier time going over it- it was pretty amazing. So that was our fun night
The next morning we ate a really good breakfast (made by all the men) and cleaned up camp. We were then ready to go for the real ride. The few of us that were left got in the Volvo, the Blue Unimog, and one of my co-workers jeep and started up the mountain. Sterling drove the Volvo and about half-way up there, the steering column came loose. We thought about turning around, but instead just jimmy-rigged it with a ratchet strap and continued on our way. We made it all the way to the top of Mount Logan and it was really cool. We were so dirty by the time we came back down- we both rode in the Volvo the entire way and you'll see by some of our pictures that we were filthy (I had to wash and condition my hair three times!). We had a lot of fun, and it was good to get to know some of the people I work with and their families a little better. Another perk of the party was that my boss gave everyone prizes/gifts. We got a sweet water filter that will come in handy when we go backpacking again! So there it is- enjoy the pics!
